FIVE MORE L/STONE OUTLETS SHUT
By ANDREW MUKOMA WITH Zambia’s tourist capital being declared a hotspot of Covid-19, the Livingstone City Council and District Medical Office have cracked the whip again. A combined team of public health officers have closed down five more business entities in the city for none adherence to Covid-19 guidelines. This is barely four days after six more business entities including night clubs, restaurants and mobile service centres were shut down. Council Assistant Public Relations Officer, Harriet Chimuka, said that five more outlets have been shut down bringing the number to 11 despite some of them unlawfully resuming operations without meeting the set up standards. The affected outlets are are DAPP stores, Arkay investments, Fair Price Shop and Livingstone Health Care Pharmacy. A combined team of inspectors from the local authority and Ministry of Health shut the premises for overcrowding and failing to ensure that customers were masked up. She said that the shops would only be opened after paying a penalty fee of K 750 each and writing a commitment letter promising that they would not violate the Covid-19 protocols again. On Tuesday, the local authority closed Hungry Lion, Munali Cafe, Food Palace, Chima Mobile, Airtel Zambia and YK night club for none adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
