FAZ WELCOME NEW PATRON …as National Olympics Committee hail Hichilema over presidential victory  FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga says the coming in of President-elect Hakainde Hichilema could give the association renewed strength in developing the game. Hichilema was yesterday declared the next president after he defeated outgoing president Edgar Lungu in the August 12 polls which saw him secure 2, 810, 777 votes as Lungu came second with 1, 814, 201 votes, out of seven million registered voters. Speaking after after congratulating President Hichilema for winning the general elections, Kamanga said he was confident that the new UPND government will reinvigorate the association’s efforts to develop football in Zambia because every change comes with renewed vigour. Kamanga said President Hichilema’s resilience in his political path is one the association can greatly draw lessons from.  He said the coming of the UPND will be a turning point in the fortunes of the Zambian game. “FAZ joins the rest of the nation in congratulating the new Republican President Hakainde Hichilema on his victory. President Hichilema automatically becomes the FAZ patron and Football House is excited at the prospect of cordially working with the new government. “We are extremely excited like the rest of the country at the election of a new President and government. We wish to congratulate President Hakainde Hichilema on being elected to lead our great nation,” Kamanga said. He noted that as the new patron of FAZ, the association will be looking forward to working closely with the new president to develop football. And Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) has also congratulated President Hichilema on his election. ZASPOFA patron Peter Makembo said the association was ready to work with the new government to encourage the development of sports in Zambia.  Meanwhile, National Olympic Committee of Zambia President Alfred Foloko is confident that President Hichilema will steer this country with diligence. Foloko said the National Olympic Committee has no doubt that Hichilema will give sport the attention it requires, and indeed continue to be used as one of the unifying factors for our land.
