FAZ SHOULD FIRE COACH ‘MICHO’
Dear Editor, THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) should fire coach Millutin “Micho” Sredojevic of the senior national soccer team just after the ongoing COSAFA football tournament in South Africa. Coach “Micho” has failed the soccer fans and other football stakeholders. The decision to fire “Micho” must be made now and it will save Zambia from further embarrassment. The Serbian was, upon being employed, tasked with the responsibility of qualifying the senior national team for the 2022 Cameroon Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) football tournament. But alas, Zambia failed to qualify for Africa’s biggest football tournament. The crux of the matter is that “Micho” hasn’t achieved anything going by the myriad of losses the Zambia national soccer team has suffered at the hands of the countries which were perceived to be underdogs. The cases in point are Zambia’s 2-1 and 1-0 defeat to Lesotho and eSwatini respectively at the COSAFA football tournament. In my view, Zambia won’t qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup under the reign of Coach “Micho.” Worse still, coach “Micho” is not competent to raise the bar of football in our country at the senior national team level. A lasting solution to the football woes in Zambia is to immediately employ a competent coach whether foreign or local. ELEMIYA PHIRI, Lusaka.
