FAZ MOOTS COVID-19 LIFELINE

MUKWIMA CHILALA writes THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has proposed a mitigation package for administrative challenges faced by clubs arising from the impact of the Covid-19 partial lock down. FAZ acting Communication Manager Sydney Mungala told the Sun Sport in a statement that FAZ Executive Committee met on Wednesday and resolved that it would assess the impact of the Covid-19 on its members and see how they can mitigate the damage. Mungala said that members would be expected to provide FAZ with details of the hardest hit aspects of their operations through a questionnaire that will be circulated.  FAZ has urged members to remain compliant with the guidelines provided by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation in the fight against the Covid-19. He further said member clubs were also advised to observe the Labour laws in the wake of Covid-19 which has affected their financial status.  And FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala remains optimistic that the Covid-19 threat would be curtailed soon enough to ensure that football returns to the pitch. “We continue to monitor the situation around the Covid-19 and we are hopeful that football will return to the pitches soon. In the meantime we are urging all our members to play their part in the fight that has plunged the whole world into a health crisis,” the FAZ boss said. “Play Safe, Stay Home and Keep Safe. Or come up with something different to speak to the Covid-19 fight,” urges Kashala All sport activities have been suspended and Football House remains shut, in line with the Covid-19 guidelines.
