EXPEDITE EFFECTIVE IMPLEMENTATION OF CYBER SECURITY LAW, GOVT URGED
By SIMON MUNTEMBA NOW that the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Bill is law, the Minister of Home Affairs should quickly set up the Cyber Security Authority and inspectors to ensure effective implementation of the law to help bring sanity to the cyber space, the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) has said.  Welcoming the assenting into law the Cyber Security and Cyber Bill of 2021 by President Edgar Lungu, YALI president, Andrew Ntewewe said he was looking forward to the establishment of the Cyber Security Authority and appointment of inspectors who will help bring sanity to the Cyber space.  In an interview, Mr Ntewewe called on the Minister of Home Affairs, Mr Stephen Kampyongo to expedite the process of setting up the Cyber Security Authority for effective implementation of the law. “First of all we are excited that the President has signed the Bill into law. We are now calling on the Minister of Home Affairs to speedily operationalise the law so that the country and its citizens will greatly benefit from having a cyber space which is free of bullying and other associated crimes,” Mr Ntewewe said. He said it was high time that people’s reputations were protected from proliferation of faceless online media that has injured innocent people with no recourse at all.
