Ex sued over K148,000 lover’s ‘bail out’

A LUSAKA woman has sued her ex-husband in the High Court claiming over K148,000. In a statement of claim filed in court, Lydia Kunda has accused her former husband Clinton Mwale of stealing money from her handbag and misusing it. Kunda stated that she has suffered loss and damages as a result of Mwale’s conduct. Lydia Kunda dragged Clinton Mwale to the Lusaka High Court claiming that she has as a result of his conduct, suffered loss and now claims an order of payment of K148,000 damages , interest and costs for the law suit. According to her statement of claim filed in court on May 21 this year, Ms Kunda said she and Mr Mwale once lived as husband and wife but were now divorced. She claimed that Mwale on two different occasions borrowed money from a money lender amounting to K130,000 and he used her vehicle as collateral without her consent. “The plaintiff had to pay K130,000 in order to save her vehicle from being sold by the lender, when the defendant failed to pay back,” Kunda claimed. She said in her claim that Mwale whilst living as husband and wife also stole K15,000 from her handbag. Kunda  also claimed that her former husband also got K3,000 without her consent, money which she had borrowed from a friend. She stated that she has on several occasions demanded payment of the money from Mwale but he has ignored her request. Kunda stated that she has suffered loss as a result of Mwale’s behavior and wants the court to order him to pay her. – ZANIS. The Sun
