Erratic water supply hits Garden township
LINDA SOKO TEMBO writes ERRATIC water supply has hit certain parts of Lusaka’s Garden Township causing residents to move long distances in search of the commodity, Ngwerere Ward 19 councilor Adrian Banda has said. Mr Banda said that the water challenges in the area had angered the residents who have demanded for an immediate solution.  In an interview with the Sun, Mr Banda said that as a ward they had made an effort over the weekend to engage the area Member of Parliament Jean Kapata and Lusaka Water Sewerage Company (LWSC) on finding a long term solution on the matter.  Mr Banda said that one of the major challenges that led to the residents not having water was because some residents had built houses on top of the water pipes making it difficult for the utility to access the pipes that had saved their purpose in the area.   “Some selected zones in our ward have been experiencing erratic water supply for the past weeks, this situation has angered the affected residents. We have made frantic efforts by engaging the utility company over this matter who have promised to work things out,” Mr Banda said. “The LWSC is trying to put water pipes in the area and get rid of the old pipes that had problems, making it difficult for people to access clean and safe water,” he said.
