Eagles soar to Eden summit
TIM ZULU writes THE 2-1 win over Kafue Celtic and a 3- 0 walk over for no show Zesco Malaiti Rangers was enough for Young Green Eagles to catapult them to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Eden University League One Summit with 53 points. “We are happy to be back on top after a long time and I do not see us giving it up. We are set for promotion as Eden University National league Champions,” said the Club Chairman Colonel David Chinunda. On the Appealed case the Eagles Chief said Malaiti told them their predicament on match day minutes before kick-off. “Just like them we had players who tested positive and went into isolation so FAZ must be very objective when dealing with this matter but we have no fuss about it,” he said. And Zesco Malaiti Rangers Chairman Denovan Katuta, who confirmed the team’s appeal, told Eden Sports that he is ready to go to division one with a head high by doing what is right not staying and doing what is wrong. “This COVID- 19 fight is not about Eagles or Malaiti it is for all of us. You know how difficult it had been to do these tests and because of wanting to speed up matters we ended up doing random tests and 10 of our players tested positive and put them into isolation immediately, so tell me how can I travel with 8 players alone for the game?” Katuta asked. “So other officials and I travelled to Kafue to let our colleagues know our precarious situation on match day. Otherwise for me, I have no problem if they have given them three (3) points but the fact is what we did was to help not spread the virus, then our conscience is free so the decision will be up to them (FAZ) because these instructions of health guidelines and Adherence is coming from them and the government, for us we had to act like that as responsible citizens,” he said. The Week 25 Eagles vs Malaiti Rangers was declared a walk over by match officials after the latter failed to pitch up last weekend. The Sun
