Eagles seek redemption
MICHAEL MIYOBAwrites @SunZambian ZAMBIA’s envoys in the CAF Confederations Cup Green Eagles flew to Cameroon on Saturday as they seek to bounce back from the 2-0 defeat to Coton Sport who are the host in today’s return leg of the first round fixture at Roumdé Adjia Stadium in Garoua, Cameroon. The Aggrey Chiyangi-drilled Eagles face an impossible task after they allowed two goals in the first leg fixture played on December 23 at Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka. Eagles will need to score a minimum of three unanswered goals to make it through to the group stages of the tournament while a goalless draw will be enough for the Cameroonians to progress. Meanwhile, NAPSA Stars coach Mohamed Fathi has named a 21-member squad that has travelled to Mozambique for the CAF Confederations Cup return leg fixture against UD Do Songo after the two sides recorded a goalless draw in the first leg played two weeks ago in Lusaka. Fathi has named his best squad which has seen the return of striker Bornwel Mwape, Tapson Kaseba and 2012 Africa Cup winner, Emmanuel Mayuka who has predicted a tough game in Mozambique. Speaking before departure for Mozambique, Mayuka said the game against DO Songo is a good challenge for the Pensioners who are seeking to make history in the continental games where they are making a maiden appearance. “We have done our homework and we are going there with a winning mentality after we drew at home so the game is still 50/50 it can go either way and as a striker I’m required to score goals and also to help the team win and progress to the next round,” Mayuka said. Meanwhile, NAPSA Stars who arrived in Mozambique just after 10 hours yesterday have complained of poor reception. Club public relations officer, Gwen Chipasula said the club endured over a three-hour delay at the airport because there was no health officials to clear the team after it arrived. Chipasula also confirmed that the bus allocated to the team failed to move as it developed a mechanical fault causing further delay to the team which finally left the airport at 12:45 hours. After a goalless draw in Lusaka, NAPSA Stars will need a scoring draw to advance to the next round of the completion consisting of the best clubs in Africa.
