‘DON’T DROP GUARD BECAUSE OF VACCINE’
ZAMBIANS should not drop their guard against Covid-19 following the commencement of vaccination, says Health Permanent Secretary Technical Services, Kennedy Malama. Dr Malama said the vaccine does not protect one from getting the pandemic but only reduces the chances of getting it and also reduces the severity. He said the Covid-19 vaccine being rolled out by government induces people’s immunity for between 10 months and one year. The Permanent Secretary was speaking during ZNBC’s Sunday Interview last night. Dr Malama called on people who have been vaccinated to continue following the five golden rules to protect themselves. He said Zambia like many countries across the globe is still in a pandemic mode hence people should continue following the Covid-19 measures. Dr. Malama also said that dropping the guard would be worsening the situation as other countries are already experiencing the third wave. -ZNBC.
