DOCTORS VOW TO WITHDRAW LABOUR
By SENIYA BANDA RESIDENT Doctors have vowed to go ahead with their strike despite Government’s assurance to clear the K1.2 million salary arrears owed to medical personnel since 2015. Recently, the Resident Doctors Association of Zambia (RDAZ) gave Government up to Friday May, 2021 to pay the salaries arrears amounting to over K1.2 million failure to which would proceed with strike. Last week, Ministry of Health spokesperson, Abel Kabalo, said that Government was doing everything possible to ensure that the doctor were paid their dues. But RDAZ President, Brian Sampa, said despite calls by stakeholders for the Ministry of Health to address their challenges, nothing much had been done. Dr Sampa said Government owes them about 1.2 million in allowances and salary arrears which it has failed to clear.
