‘Disrespectful’ Mweetwa apologises to headmen
By KETRA KALUNGA UPND Choma Central Member of Parliament Cornelius Mweetwa, has apologised to traditional leaders in Chief Cooma’s area for the disparaging remarks he used against them. Mr. Mweetwa said he was sorry for offending the headmen in Siasikabole area through his unpalatable language which unsettled the traditional leaders. He said in an interview that he was remorseful for his actions and that he had no justification whatsoever, but to apologise. “I went to the headmen in the Siasikabole area to apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. When there is a perception that I have offended them, it is incumbent upon me to go back to them as my employers,” said Mr Mweetwa, who is also UPND spokesperson. Mr Mweetwa claimed that the Patriotic Front wanted to take advantage of the perceived differences between him and the headmen in Chief Cooma. He said the differences that were between him and the headmen, prior to his apology, were not as bad as they were portrayed in the media. Mr Mweetwa said that it was a humbling experience to kneel before the traditional leaders and apologise for his perceived mischief.
