MUKWIMA CHILALA writes THE Disability Sport Federation of Zambia (DSFOZ) has appealed to Sports federations and Associations in Zambia to unite and support disability sport in Zambia. And DSOFZ president George Gondwe has paid tribute to the OYDC Zambia for making a donation of face masks to the federation. “On behalf of the Disability Sport Federation of Zambia, and indeed on my own behalf, I would like to thank, Olympic Youth Development Centre, Dr. Fredrick Mulenga Chitangala, through National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President, Mr. Alfred Foloko and his Board Members for donating face masks to DSFOZ,” Gondwe said. “I would also like to appeal to all sports associations and sports national federations to work together and support, Disability Sport in Zambia.” He highlighted the fact that differently abled persons could participate in sports activities but required special equipment in most instances and so support was always welcome. DSFOZ was amongst several sports bodies to benefit from face masks that are part of the OYDC-Zambia drive to combat the spread of coronavirus. Meanwhile, Gondwe disclosed that the German Embassy in Zambia, had recently donated wheelchairs and other assorted sports equipment to Disability Sport Federation of Zambia. He said that the hand over was done at the OYDC Sports Centre and that the wheelchairs were being kept by OYDC Zambia. Gondwe has since applauded the OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer, for his support in promoting Disability Sport in Zambia. DSOFZ is a non-profit making organisation which was registered with the Registrar of Societies of Zambia in 2017. He said that the goal of the DSFOZ was to promote diversification of activities among persons with Disabilities. The Sun
