Dangerous driving suspect committed to high court

RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambianA Lusaka man charged with three counts of causing death by dangerous driving has been committed to Lusaka high Court.The Director of Public Persecutions has issued a certificate to commit the accused George Phiri 36 a driver of Zingalume to High Court for causing death by dangerous driving.It is alleged that Phiri on February 5 2020 did cause the death of Gideon Mwewa while driving a Volvo truck on a public road at the junction between chifwema and leopards hill road in a manner that was dangerous to the public and other road users.In count two, it is alleged that Phiri on February 5 2020 did cause the death of Christopher Mumba while driving a Volvo truck on a public road at a junction between Chifwema and Leopards Hill road in a manner that was dangerous to the public and other road users.In count three, it is alleged that Phiri on February 5 2020 did cause the death of Charles Chafuka while driving a Volvo truck on a public road at a junction between Chifwema and Leopards Hill road in a manner that was dangerous to the public and other road users.Phiri appeared before magistrate Martha Miti for explanation of the charge.Public prosecutor Mr. Zulu informed the magistrate Miti that the director of public prosecutions has issued the certificate to commit Phiri to the high Court, and the magistrate acted on the instructions.Magistrate Miti explained to Phiri that he was appearing for explanation of the charge as it is matter tried at the high.
