Daka, Mwepu in ‘world class friendly’
AARON MUBANGA writes ZAMBIA’S exports to the Austrian Premier league, in the form of Patson Daka and Enock Mwepu are expected to be part of the sqaud that will enjoy some game time against Liverpool FC next week. The Zambian duo and their Redbull Salzburg teammates will face the English Premier League Champions in a club-friendly match on Tuesday at the Redbull Arena. The Austrian side will however today clash with Dutch heavyweights Ajax Amsterdam before facing Jurgen Klopp’s men two days later. Liverpool boss Klopp is happy his side will face Salzburg a team they faced in the UCL group stages and have three players on their ranks who were groomed at the Redbull Arena in SadioMane, Naby Keita, and Takumi Minamino. “We are here in the wider Salzburg area, so on the way home pretty much, if you want, we play them. It’s good. We know, meanwhile, Red Bull was really in all the plannings here, so I’m happy that we can do that,” Klopp told the club’s official website. “Salzburg, not long ago that we played and we took Taki from there, Sadio played there, Naby played there. That’s all good but in the end, it’s only about that we can play the games. These are not the most important games in the world but at this moment they are very, very important because we just want to see that the boys again use the things we think they should use in a game.” Liverpool beat Salzburg home and away in the UEFA Champions League including a dramatic 4-3 match at Anfield in which EnockMwepu made his debut and provided two assists. – ZAMFOOT The Sun
