Court to view CCTV footage to find phone thief?

RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambian A Lusaka man has been dragged to court for stealing a phone worth K7,500.Appearing at the Lusaka magistrates court before magistrate Martha Miti was Simon Tembo accused of stealing a phone belonging to Mulimo Mweemba on March 9, 2020.Mr .Mweemba said it was around 17:00 hours when he went to Buffalo park to have some drinks with friends.He said when they arrived, he went to order some beers and which he took to the table where his friends were seated.He said he realised that his phone was missing and when his friends called it, the phone rang for sometime and later went off.He said because it was a holiday that day, there was a lot of people at the counter.He said he went o ask the lady at the counter and she told him to check the CCTV footage.He said the officers at premises took him to watch the video footage where he saw Tembo putting his right hand on the counter while the left hand grabbed the phone from his pocket.He said he was told that the man was well known because of similar acts he committed at the place.He said he reported the matter to the police station the following day.He said a few days later, the police called to go and identify him before they could apprehend him.He said after confirming Tembo to be the person in the CCTV footage, he was apprehended by the police.The matter was adjourned for viewing of the CCTV footage at the next sitting The Sun
