Court grants bail to man accused of murder conspiracy
Mulenga Musonda Writes @SunZambian The Choma Magistrates Court has granted bail to a 52 years of peasant farmer who has been arraigned in Court on accusations of conspiring to kill three people. In this matter, Saviours Muchimba is facing one count of Conspiracy to Murder contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Muchimba, jointly and whilst acting with Gistro Munachoonga, Kangokwa Alfred, Bulundo Mangaila and Matron Mulota conspired to murder Oliver Hanzila, Daniel Muntanga and Fines Chipapa Chikwani. The alleged conspiracy is said to have occurred between July 27 and 31 in Choma district and the accused person who was apprehended on the 31st has continued to remain in custody. When he appeared for explanation of the charge before Principal Resident Magistrate Idah Mupemo, Muchimba informed the Court that he understood the charge read to him. Magistrate Mupemo who seemed displeased for the lengthy period that the accused person had stayed in custody without Court appearance appealed to the State to issue instructions pronto. She further granted Muchimba bail in the sum of K5, 000 in own recognisance and allowed the adjournment application from Senior Public Prosecutor Charles Chinzai to January 6, 2021 for a mention and possible committal to the High Court.
