‘Cop raped me’ Woman reveals in court

RABECCA BANDA writes@SunZambian A Lusaka woman who was allegedly raped by her cousin has revealed that it was the relatives who suggested that she lives with him after the father died.She explained during cross examination that after her father’s death, the relatives sat down and decided that she should go and live with her cousin Njekwa.This was in a matter before magistrate Felix Kaoma were Silumesi Njekwa 28 a police officer is facing two counts of rape and indecent assault on a woman.It is alleged that on March 8 2020, the accused had canal knowledge of a woman without her lawful consent.The matter came up for cross examination of the witness by the defence counsel.COUNSEL: after your father died where you told by the relatives that you will go and live with Njekwa?WOMAN: Yes.COUNSEL: did your mother die when you were five years old?WOMAN: yes.COUNSEL: the mother to Njekwa is your aunt right?WOMAN: yes she is my aunt.COUNSEL: is it true that you started misbehaving at 12 years old?WOMAN: No I never misbehaved.COUNSEL: is it not true that you used to sleep out when your brother was working night shift?WOMAN: It is not true.COUNSEL: did Njekwa ever tell you to stop misbehaving or else he will take you to live with someone else?WOMAN: No, he told me to clean the house to the standards of his wife or else I will have to leave.
