Cooperatives get empowerment certificates
By SIMON MUNTEMBAOVER 30 cooperatives in Chilanga Constituency have been issued with certificates to benefit from Government’s empowerment programmes.Presenting the 33 certificates to beneficiaries, Chilanga Member of Parliament, Maria Langa, said the certificates would allow the people in her constituency to benefit from Government empowerment schemes.Ms Langa implored members of the cooperatives to combine and share ideas on which business they could do to uplift their livelihoods.She said she was happy that the process to eradicating poverty in her constituency had started and urged cooperative members not to relent but apply for various empowerment schemes.“Other countries like Israel have developed because of cooperatives. So, this is the right step in ending poverty. Make sure you use your certificates to apply for various empowerment schemes,” she said.Ms Langa encouraged members to work closely with her constituency leaders for further guidance should they face challenges in accessing empowerment.Meanwhile, Tiyeseko Cooperative representative, Alfred Sakala, thanked the MP and Government for the certificates and promised that they would be put to good use.And Tioloke cooperative representative, Ainess Phiri, was elated that the Government was considering the poor people with empowerment schemes.
