THE Chipata Magistrate Court has acquitted a 48 year old man of Kasenengwa district, who was facing one count of stock theft. It was alleged that Wilson Hara, of Chikumbe village in Chief Chikuwe’s area stole one cattle valued at 2,000 Kwacha, property of Cosmas Phiri. The state called three witnesses to testify against Hara when the matter came up for trial yesterday. Hara, who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Boniface Mwala walked to freedom after a court’s ruling that he had no case to answer. Magistrate Mwala said he couldn’t put Hara on defence because the evidence presented before him was unreliable as witnesses gave contradictory statements. – ZANIS The Sun
