NOEL IYOMBWA writes CHAWAMA Ward Two councillor Leonard Sikombe has called on the church to support the fight against the deadly coronavirus by sharing authentic information regarding the Covid-19 outbreak. Speaking in an interview, Mr Sikombe said that it would be unfortunate if some charismatic preachers begun misleading their church members regarding the spread of the virus. He said that pastors have influence over their members hence the need for them to tell them to provide factual information to prevent the spread of the virus. The civic leader said that Covid-19 virus is a serious pandemic which should be taken seriously and that churches should be in the forefront in helping government and other stakeholders in fighting the spread of the virus. “I can only advise church leaders to be aware of the information their members because they have influence on the general public hence people can do what there are advised by their church leaders. “Corona virus is a serious pandemic that has affected the entire world so it should be taken serious to avoid loss more lives,” he said. And the councilor has advised members of public adhere to the guidelines regarding the spread of the virus. He said that the only way the virus can be fought is to follow guidelines outlined by the ministry of health. Mr Sikombe, however, expressed happiness at the level of compliance in some markets in Chawama Ward Two. He said that some marketeers are following the guidelines adding that market leaders should be in the forefront in ensuring that marketers follow the guidelines. The Sun
