Choma businessman in court for wallet, phone theft
MULENGA MUSONDA writes A 28-YEAR-OLD businessman has continued to appear in the Choma Magistrates Court for Robbery of over K9,000 and a mobile phone. In this matter Obester Muleya a resident of Choma’s Sha Township is charged with Robbery contrary to section 292 of the Penal Code of Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia. It is alleged that Muleya on 1st February 2020 in Choma stole K9,700 cash, a wallet  and a cell phone all  valued at K 9,815 the property of Khan Kaumba. The charge further states that immediately before or after stealing, Muleya threatened to use actual violence on Kaumba in order to obtain or retain the things stolen or to prevent resistance from the items being stolen. From the time Muleya was found with a case to answer in this matter he has failed to avail witnesses after indicating that he would bring in one witness to help him defend himself. When the matter came up for defence on Monday morning, the matter could not take off because of administrative activities that was going on around the Court. Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa thus adjourned the matter to 14 May 2020 for defence. Muleya stay in remanded custody was extended. The Sun
