MATHEWS NDANDULA writes@SunZambianZAMBIA Athletics has rendered technical expertise to the Continental Tour Competition Series – Results Management competition to be held tomorrow at Kenya’s Nyayo Stadium in the form of John Chazya Chizu, the ZA Timetronics Director (timer).ZA general secretary Davison Mung’ambata confirmed in a statement that Chizu is a leading Timetronics Director in Africa who was also given lecturer status by the Regional Development Centre based in Kenya and now called African Athletics Development Centre (AADC- Nairobi).He has successfully timed regional competitions in Botswana, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia. In 2017, he successfully conducted an electronic timing course in Zambia which was sponsored AADC-Nairobi and attended by twenty-five participants from different corners of Africa.Sprinter Rhoda Njobvu has also been invited by the organisers of the Continental Tour Competition Series to compete. She is currently ranked number 15 in the World in 100m women’s race and her performance has been very consistent since the beginning of the 2020 athlet-ics season. She was 5 mini seconds away from qualifying for Olympics Games in Tokyo before the outbreak of the coronavirus in March this year.“I am extremely humbled and with great honour to be exceptionally invited to go and render essential Technical Expertise in Electronic Timing, during the World Athletics Continental tour to be held in Nairobi, Kenya,” Chizu said.“Continental Tour is an Athletics competition series in 10 cities in the World and will visit four continents – Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. The world is slowly opening up from the COVID-19 pandemic.”Chizu is part of the team that will set up the system at the stadium and rehearse with the television crew.The cost of travel, boarding and lodging is fully sponsored by the organisers of the competition.The invitation of the two sportsmen is a great honour to Zambia because the Continental Competition Series is one of the highest World Competitions that will be broadcast to the World on several TV channels for two hours while the Kenya Television Network (KTN) will continue showing heats to the end of the programme.Athletes are drawn from different corners of the World. The Sun
