CBU student nabbed over K95,000 theft
SANFROSSA MANYINDA writes POLICE in Kitwe have arrested a 25-year-old student leader at the Copperbelt University (CBU) for theft by servant and forgery. Bright Chanda, who is Finance Secretary is alleged to have stolen K95, 990 cash from the Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU) account. Copperbelt Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bothwell Namuswa, confirmed the arrest to the Daily Nation. “Theft by servant and forgery, occurred between 3rd March 2020 and 19th June 2020 at Zanaco Kitwe business centre in Kitwe and Zanaco Manda hill in Lusaka. “Michael Papa Sinkala 24, student reported on behalf of COBUSU that students’ money amounting to K95, 990 was stolen from the COBUSU Account by Bright Chanda 25 of H/No318 Francis Mukuka Mufulira, a student (Finance Minister COBUSU),” Mr Namuswa said Chanda was one of the two signatories of the account and was alleged to have forged the signature for the Dean of Students, Dr Alisala Mulambya, who wasanother signatory on the account.
