CANNABIS LANDS KAFUE MAN IN JAIL
LUCY PHIRI writes A MAN of Kafue will spend four months in jail for trafficking in 33.6 grammes of cannabis without lawful authority. Appearing at the Kafue magistrate court before magistrate Kawama Mwamfuli was Brian Banda accused of trafficking in 33.6 grammes of cannabis on January 8. Particulars of the offence was that, the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) received information that a suspected male person was smoking and selling drugs. Banda admitted the charge and pleaded for forgiveness, saying that he is the one looking after his mother who is blind. And that he has learnt his lesson and asking for his mother to forgive him. “Give me a permission to teach my fellow youths about drug abuse,” Banda said. Magistrate Mwamfuli said the abuse of drugs is of great concern and deserved to be punished so that others would learn that it is a serious offence. The court jailed Banda to four months imprisonment with hard labour. The Sun
