Bring ‘shishita’
SIMON MUNTEMBA writes SIAVONGA District Commissioner (DC), Lovemore Kanyama has called on the police in the district to introduce shishita (curfew) in an effort reduce and prevent crime such as burglary and robbery. This follows the murder of a 70 –year –old security guard at a local filling station by the thieves on Sunday May 10 between 03:00 hours to 04:00 hours. Mr Kanyama who confirmed the incident said James Njovu of Kanyele compound, was murdered after thieves broke into the shop at Puma filling station in Siavonga District of Southern province. He said the victim was found dead while tied up on the legs with a neck tie and with wires on the arms. The DC who sounded furious appealed to the police in Siavonga to quickly move in and bring the culprits to book. “It’s sad that there are people who can think like this where they end up killing someone. To that effect, I want to appeal to the police in Siavonga to quickly move in and do some investigations.  “I also appeal to the police to continue with patrols in the district and pick those who move at night. If it means to introduce shishita let it be in Siavonga. We can’t allow this in Siavonga,” Mr Kanyama said. Mr Kanyama said the criminals gained entry into the shop through the roof by removing a roofing sheet and blew off the safe and went away with undisclosed amount of money. He said the guard was discovered dead around 05:45 hours in the bush within the filling station premises. The DC said the body of the deceased is lying in Siavonga district hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem. The Sun
