BOY, 9, GETS WHEEL CHAIR
SUN REPORTER writes@sunzambianA nine-year-old boy living with disabilities, has received relief following the donation of a wheel chair to improve his mobility to school and other places.Isa Salim, of Kaloko ward in Ndola, received the wheel chair, much to the delight of his mother, Whyness Bwalya.Kaloko ward Councillor, Joseph Nyirenda, who donated the wheel chair, said he felt duty-bound to make a donation because the boy was facing challenges in getting to school and to the clinic because of his condition.Mr Nyirenda said the boy, who is unable to talk, faced serious challenges in moving from one place to the other and that this prompted him to donate the wheel chair.“The boy is crippled and he needs a wheel chair to enable him go to the clinic or hospital, school and the market and also to be in the company of his friend,” Mr Nyirenda said. The councillor said he would always make himself available to the people in his ward, especially those that were faced with serious problems.Mr Nyirenda said it was time to upscale selfless service to the people because many of them were grappling with debilitating problems, which had been worsened by the outbreak of Covid-19.He appealed to other stakeholders to join in helping the needy in society because Government alone could not manage.Mr Nyirenda said assistance should particularly be channelled to the vulnerable and people living with disabilities, like Isa.
