NOEL IYOMBWA and MUKWIMA CHILALA BAREFEET Theatre has embarked on a project to make plastic face shields and distribute them to the health workers across the country. Barefeet executive director Grace Banda says their aim is to help in the fight against the Covid 19 virus. She said that the target is to make more than 15,000 face shields and distribute them to health facilities across the country. The executive director said that so far 8,500 face shields have been distributed. Ms. Banda said the rest will be sold to the general public so that the money raised can be used to buy materials to make more shields.   She called on well-wishers to support the initiative by rendering any help and that it will go a long way. And Barefeet Board Director Dr Albert Manasyan said the Organization had distributed the face shields to about ten districts which Includes Northwestern and Southern Provinces in Livingstone aswell as the Kazungula Boarder. Dr. Mayasen said that the project started a few months ago and was hoping to make 15,000 face shields and distribute them Countrywide. He said that the organization had been so far distributing the face shields for free to the front liners in the ministry of health and they just distributed the latest consignment of 2000 on Thursday which were sent to Ndeke House for donation to the Ministry of Health. “Our target is to make 15, 000 face shields and distribute them across the country, so far we have distributed 8,500 to different parts of the country we distributed to ten districts countrywide. “We hope to make more than the targeted 15, 000 face shields and distribute them to all the districts. Barefeet threatre has also identified an orphanage in NgombeCompund where it is feeding the children.  Meanwhile, the Lusaka Helps movement has been actively implementing their Mask Up, Feed our Heroes and Community Care packages. The collection of volunteers have been active in raising funds, mobilising resources and co-ordinating activities across the country in the coronavirus war. On a daily basis thousands of people are actively achieving the Lusaka Helps mission and often share on the Facebook platform. #Lusakahelps have thus far distributed 6,050 face shields to frontline health facilities across Zambia (Livingstone, Kafue, Lusaka, Chongwe, Kabwe, Ndola, Serenje, Kaoma, Luwingu, and North West Province).  “A massive THANK YOU to Satwant Transport Limited and Foamkinggroup of companies who have made generous donations to this effort. And to the dynamic members of Barefeet Theatre, who are now assembling all of our shields,” a Facebook post shared. The Sun
