Mulenga Musonda writes @sunzambian The Choma Fast Track Court for Gender Based Violence has found a 20 years old BABY DADDY with a case to answer for ruthlessly beating up his ex-girlfriend over child support. In this matter, Bright Hachikwela a businessman is charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm Contrary to section 248 Chapter 87 of the Penal of the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Hachikwela assaulted his 18 years old ex-girlfriend Imelda Musonda and thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm. The incident is said to have occurred on December 22, 2020 when the victim whom he has a child with went to collect child support at his Kiosk. It is alleged that the victim was infuriated when the accused gave her a precut bar Soap which raised altercations and finally a beating. When the matter came up for continued trial before Court, Resident Magistrate Ethel Phiri found the accused person with a case to answer after Yvonne Nchimunya an eye witness testified on how she saw her friend brutally clobbered by Hachikwela over a bar of soap. Nchimunya narrated that on the fateful day she escorted her friend Musonda to the Market to get Soap for her child from the Father. She said her friend rejected the pre-cut Bar soap she was given and got a full bar by force instead. She testified that on their way home, Hachikwela followed and intercepted them along the Rail lines where he started demanding that he be given the soap back. When she refused he started punching her as he hurled unpalatable’s leaving Musonda bleeding profusely from her nose. But in his defense, Hachikwela denied ever beating his ex-girlfriend and testified that Musonda hit herself on his shoulder as he tried to grab the bar of soap from her. The matter comes up on January 22, for judgment and Hachikwela was remanded on police bond.
