‘BABY COME BACK’
…as Zanaco name ex assistant trainer as head coach By MICHAEL MIYOBA AFTER saying goodbye to coach Chris Kaunda, “Sensational” Zanaco FC have moved on to appoint ex assistant and former Nkana FC coach Kelvin Kaindu as the new head coach. Zanaco FC acting general manager Roy Mutombo unveiled Kaindu who has signed a one-year deal with the CAF Champions League envoys. “Zanaco FC management feel it was the right move to hire Kaindu as head coach because he’s one of the coaches with high coaching badges that includes; a UEFA B Diploma, the FA International Licence and CAF A. “Zanaco FC Board and Management are delighted to engage Coach Kaindu once again this time around as Head Coach of Sensational Zanaco FC.” Mutombo said. This is the third time the former Zanaco FC captain is making a return to Sunset Stadium as a coach having been an assistant to Wedson Nyirenda and Mumamba Numba between 2009-2011 and 2019-2020 respectively. Before his latest return to Sunset Stadium, Kaindu had unsuccessful stints at Buildcon FC, Power Dynamos and finally Nkana where he was fired and replaced by Beston Chambeshi. After failing to impress at his previous clubs, Kaindu will be hoping to give Zanaco their first championship in six years. “We haven’t won the league for sometimes but if we can organise ourselves focus to try and get what we want to achieve hopefully we push for the championship and consolidate our position in the champions league,” Kaindu said. Kaindu said his knowledge about some players who he worked with when he was assistant to Mumamba will help him to assemble a team to win the championship after six years of competing without winning the league. “It is an advantage because I already know what some players are capable of doing and I already know how they play I have watched them in the league,” he said. Kaindu noted the need to make replacements for players like striker Rodger Kola who joined Tanzanian outfit AZAM FC. After being unveiled as new coach, Kaindu travels with the team for a 10-Day pre-season training camp in Livingstone.
