THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) working with all councils countrywide should ensure proper offloading and storage of ballot boxes, political activist Obert Namalongo has advised.
Mr Namalongo alleged that Zambians were slowly losing confidence in the ECZ, stating that it was time the electoral body embraced credibility.
The political activist was speaking with the Daily Nation in Kitwe.
“Stakeholders’ concerns over the safety of ballot boxes must be supported by all well-meaning Zambians.
“In the first place, it is clear that the majority of people have lost confidence in the current leadership at the Electoral Commission of Zambia,” he said.
Mr Namalongo advised the ECZ to give answers on media reports regarding safety of ballot papers in Mporokoso, Petauke and Ndola, as they did for Lusaka.
He also encouraged all political parties, the church and ordinary people in Zambia to continue demanding transparency in the safety of ballot boxes.
