4 die, 13 injured in Manyinga road bus accident

MANYINGA – Four people including a driver of a Power Tools Bus have died at Mundanya Bridge on the Kabompo River in Manyinga district of North-Western Province whilst 13 others sustained serious injuries in a road accident. Both North-Western Province Police Commissioner, Elias Chushi and Manyinga District Commissioner, Queen Manela confirmed the development to ZANIS yesterday saying the critically injured passengers are admitted to Loloma Mission Hospital in the district. Mr Chushi said the Power Tools bus registration number ALT 2165 was coming from Zambezi district on its way to Solwezi via Manyinga district when the driver of the bus lost control and rammed into the shores of the Kabompo river at Mundanya bridge around 04:20 hours. The Police Commissioner said police and local authorities in Manyingadistrict are yet to identity the names of the deceased. And the visibly saddened District Commissioner described the accident as devastating as it has claimed lives. Ms Manela said government has always advised motorists to be cautious of the curvy Mundanya which has claimed many lives in the past. Meanwhile, eye witnesses said there could be more deaths and those injured as the bus which is a 65 capacity seater had more than 30 people. –ZANIS The Sun
