The Expo 2020 is scheduled to take place from 1 st October 2021 to 31st March, 2022 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The participants will showcase the country’s investment opportunities with in agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, energy, infrastructure and mining and mineral development. This is according to the Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister, Chipoka Mulenga. Mr Mulenga said the Expo would provide Zambian companies a platform for networking, establishment of business-to-business linkages, business joint ventures or partnerships and increased exposure for local product development, among others.  He explained that this was because the Expo would be the largest world expositions with an estimation of over 25 million visitors from over 192 countries and partners. “In addition, each country will be given an opportunity to host a National Day at the Expo premises on which they will display among others, their national heritage, cultural diversity, resources and the vast investment opportunities the country has to offer to the world. “Zambia will host its National Day at the Dubai 2020 Expo on 20th January, 2022 at the Expo centre in the Al-wasl plaza,” Mr Mulenga said. He said to ensure Zambia’s successful participation in Expo, Government had been engaging both public and private sector institutions. He stated that that despite the unprecedented challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic, over 30 private sector players including SMEs had confirmed participation at the Dubai 2020 Expo. “The Expo therefore will be a much-needed platform that will help companies in rebuilding and recovering from the impact of the pandemic by providing a fast track platform for companies to market their products and services and to tap into new innovations. “As Government, we believe that this innovative and collaborative spirit will help our industries to thrive in times of crisis,” Mr Mulenga said.
