OLIVER SAMBOKO writes THREE Lusaka security guards yesterday appeared in the Lusaka magistrate court for stealing and slaughtering a Kudu antelope at the game ranch they were assigned to guard by their employer. Simwanza Zimba and two of his accomplices are alleged to have on March18, 2020, jointly and whilst acting together stolen one wild animal namely Kudu valued at K10,000, the property of Elesdile farm.  And testifying in the matter, a state witness, Samson Ngoma 55, of Ngwerere who is head of security at the game ranch, told the court that on the material date at around 10:00 hours, he was alerted by the security officer at the farm through radio communication that the electrical wire fence was tempered with by unknown people.  He said when he rushed to the scene, he found that a portion of the electrical fence was tempered with and also some pieces of meat was also found hanging on the wire. Mr Ngoma said he later instructed the police to report the matter to the police who arrested the suspects who they found cooking a pot of kudu offals at the guards quarters.   He said the suspects later led the police to where they had hidden the skin which was produced in court as evidence.  In another matter, a Lusaka youth has pleaded guilty to one charge of trafficking in 2.76 grammes of heroin.  Mumba Mwalukutila 29, of Libala pleaded guilty to the charge when he appeared before the Lusaka Magistrate’s court where he is facing another count of trafficking in Marijuana contrary to section 6 of the narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances Act chapter 96 of the laws of Zambia.  In the first charge which he accepted, it was alleged that Mwalukutila, whilst acting alone, on July, 4, 2020, did traffic in narcotic drugs namely 2.76 grammes of heroine without authority.  In count two, Mwalukutila is alleged to have on July 4, 2020, in Lusaka   trafficked in psychotropic substances namely 14 grams of Marijuana, a herbal product of cannabis sativa without authority.  The matter has been adjourned for reading of facts, sentencing in count one.
