11 UNCLAIMED BODIES SET FOR BURIAL
SANFROSSA MANYINDA writes@SunZambian THE Kitwe City Council will this week bury 11 unclaimed bodies after a request by the Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH). Out of the deceased, 10 are males while one is female. The 11 unclaimed bodies have been lying in the mortuary for the period about six months. According to the local authority, the exercise would cost approximately K10, 000. Council Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba said the burial of the bodies would be done in accordance with section 27(d) of the Public Health Act, chapter 295 of the laws of Zambia. “The local authority received the letter from Kitwe Teaching Hospital on November 26, 2020 requesting the burial of the unclaimed bodies and the council gave members of the general public a 14 day notice of which has elapsed,” she said. Ms Mwamba expressed disappointment with the growing failure to claim bodies of the deceased by some family members. She appealed to any Church within the district to go forward and offer prayers during the burial of the 11 deceased.
